See Inside Mango Tree's Sophisticated CityCenterDC Space

Inspiration from Thailand meets a Euro sensibility.

CityCenter DC's Thai import Mango Tree opens today, and the sleek, window-lined 6,800-square foot space spans two levels. The first floor is home to a 45-seat bar and lounge, while the upstairs dining room seats 140.

Designed by Spain's Lázaro Rosa-Violán Studio, the restaurant doesn't look like a typical Thai restaurant. Leather chairs, bright red banquettes, some mismatched seating, warm wood and ornate plates warm up the space's modern architecture (there are even plates on the ceiling of the bar). There are some artistic chandeliers, and even the sink looks like an antique bathtub. Not pictured: a 24-seat seasonal patio still to come.
