Boloco has closed its Bethesda restaurant location, meaning it now no longer has any presence in the D.C. market.
The burrito chain announced the closure in an email blast. "We ventured out of our New England home base for the first time in the summer of 2012 and opened our Bethesda location, later followed by our DC location. We were excited for the challenge and the opportunity that lay before us. Opening two locations in an area far from home proved to be more challenging than we ever could have expected. In hindsight, to drive the awareness that we needed, we would have had to open many more locations in the area."
The D.C. location closed because of slow sales in early December. The company says it will pay employees for a month and work to find them new jobs in the area.
