Mod Pizza, Scarlet Oak, More Coming

1) Ballston: A peek through the window shows that SER is getting closer to opening. This is the Spanish restaurant that won the Ballston Restaurant Challenge. Last update from the owner predicted a late January or early February opening. [PLYWOOD]

2) Navy Yard: Scarlet Oak, from the owners of Southern Hospitality, has applied for a construction permit, according to WBJ. It's coming to 909 New Jersey Ave. SE. [PLYWOOD]

3) Clarendon: Brixx Pizza is opening next to Nam Viet in Clarendon, according to ARLNOW. It's a sit down restaurant (though they have carryout) and they plan to serve beer and wine. [PRE-PLYWOOD]

4) Petworth: The latest bar from the owners of Jackie's and Bar Charley will be called J 'N G Tavern, PoPville reports. There will be burgers, kid-friendly hours and 16 draft beers. [PLYWOOD]

5) Silver Spring: In other pizza news, Seattle's Mod Pizza (which is fast-casual) will open at Ellsworth Place, WBJ reports. [PLYWOOD]
