Bistrot Royal officially replaces Bastille today at 1201 North Royal Street.
Chefs Christophe and Michelle Poteaux are still behind the new bistro, but the food is more casual and relaxed. The restaurant has a new look (more like a French cafe). Salvador Alvarez is the chef de cuisine, and will focus the menu on French comfort food.
Menu items will include croque monsieurs, steamed mussels, duck confit, coq a vin and other classics, plus desserts like profiteroles and vanilla bean creme brulee. Bastille is moving to 606 N Fayette Street (still in Alexandria).
