Tomorrow is the grand opening for One Eight Distilling, the second distillery to open in Washington, D.C. since prohibition. Located in Northeast, One Eight Distilling is ready for the public to check out its sleek 2,000 square foot tasting room, where visitors can sample and buy bottles of the distillery's rye-based District Made Vodka and Rock Creek White Whiskey, an un-aged whiskey with hints of spice and pepper.
One Eight’s Ivy City Gin, named after the neighborhood where the distillery is located, will be released in the next few weeks. The plan is for One Eight Distilling to start distributing their spirits to D.C. liquor stores, bars and restaurants soon after opening.
One Eight Distilling will be open between the hours of 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. every Saturday starting tomorrow. The space will also be open by appointment. Visitors can get a behind-the-scenes look at the distillery's 7,500 square production space, and they'll also have a shop with branded flasks, hats, t-shirts, shot glasses, and more. Status: Opening tomorrow. 1135 Okie St. NE; website.
