The Search for Authenticity on Reddit

OK but like is this authentic?

A Reddit user in the DC subgroup has posed an interesting question to their internet community — what country-specific restaurants do folks from the respective countries actually patronize? This search for authenticity is always a seemingly hot topic. "That's Americanized Chinese you're enjoying," is what true foodies probably say all the time, right?

The conclusions thus far are that it's hard to find good Mexican in the District and the suburbs are better for finding diverse cuisines (which will come as a surprise to few.) There have been a couple restaurant call-outs, though. A Dutch import raves about Belga, someone with German ancestry swears Cafe Berlin's schnitzel and spätzle both "taste just like my grandma's."
