Bozzelli's Deli & Pizza is opening its first location in D.C.
Co-owner Michael Bozzelli told Eater it will open at 1025 Vermont Ave. NW by late winter. The 1,800 square foot space should seat about 20 diners.
Their D.C. store will differ from their Virginia locations in two significant ways. First, it will be an ode to the toasterias of Italy, which are small cafes that specialize in toasted sandwiches.
It will also be a completely cashless business— they'll only accept Apple Pay, Google Wallet and major credit cards. "Cash is archaic. Going cashless allows us to expedite the transaction process," Bozzelli explains.
Michael Bozzelli first hinted at the possibility of a D.C. location back in May. This will be the fourth location for the family-owned deli and pizzeria in operation since 1978. The other three are in Crystal City, Springfield, and Newington.
