Several celebrities of the food world are in town today, courtesy of the Smithsonian's Food History Gala, slated for tonight. Food Network's Alton Brown was already eating away at Bloomingdale favorite The Red Hen last night, and offers his endorsement for the pasta.
Meanwhile, Daniel Boulud will prepare a special dinner at the event for Jacques Pepin, who's being honored with the first Julia Child Award. Other major chef are expected to attend tonight's event, from Marcus Samuelsson to Sara Moulton.
Brown hit up such places as Ben's Chili Bowl, District Doughnut and Oyamel the last time he was in town.
Eater will update this post with any other Brown or mega-chef D.C. restaurant stops; send any tips to dc@eater.com.
