Yesterday on Twitter, @laetitiabrock snapped a photo of the restaurant giving away chicken sandwiches last night at a soft opening event.
Eater has reached out to the restaurant's owner for any additional details.
Ray's Hell Burger's journey to D.C. has been several years in the making, with hiccups along the way. The restaurant is slated for the CityVista development on K Street. The original Hell Burger location, as well as its offshoot in the same development, have both closed, but the burgers are still served in a restaurant across the street from the original in Arlington.
Here's Ray's Twitter account, Tweeting out news of the soft opening:
Come put your hands around me and eat me all up until there's nothing left. Absolutely free. 449 K… https://t.co/OQSysCFuaP
