Compass Coffee's second location inside The Shay building opened on Saturday. Their neighbors include the new Warby Parker shop and upcoming restaurant Kyirisan by chef Tim Ma.

Plans for the second location were announced in April. Former marines Michael Haft and Harrison Suarez opened the coffee shop's first location on 7th Street in September 2014. They work with a variety of different coffee importers and offers beans for both wholesale and retail.

In just over a year in operation, the shop has outgrown its first space. Haft and Suarez are already planning a third location inside an old tomato-canning factory in Ivy City. It will have over 5,000 square feet of roasting space.
