ALEXANDRIA— Washington Post reports fancy wedding cake artist Maggie Austin LaBaugh is taking over as culinary director at Buzz Bakeshop (formerly known as Buzz Bakery). Dessert lovers can expect items like chocolate chip cookies, cupcakes, brownies, muffins and some seasonal specials. [WaPo]

NOMA— Starting next week, pastry chef Tiffany MacIsaac will have a pop-up at Union Market. She'll offer a variety of treats including pies (whole or by the slice) in flavors like cinnamon-dulce apple, Key lime and Nutella fudge.
