Get Tipsy and Tacky at These Ugly Sweater Parties

It's become an unlikely holiday tradition: don the ugliest sweater possible, with clashing colors and horrific Christmas prints, and celebrate the season with drinks and revelry.

Bars have caught onto the trend in D.C. Here are several places around town hosting Ugly Sweater Parties over the next week or two.

Meridian Pint

Friday, Dec. 18
Meridian Pint will have $5 beers for everyone wearing their ugliest holiday sweater this Friday.

Orange Anchor

Friday, Dec. 18
Orange Anchor will have $7 holiday slushies, $5 Fireball and $3 Jello shots for their event, starting at 8 p.m. Ugliest sweater gets a $100 gift card.

Stella Barra
11825 Grand Park Ave, Rockville, Md.
Tuesday, Dec. 22
Stella Barra's party kicks off at 4 p.m. next Tuesday with $10 gift cards for participants, $3 beers and DuClaw Brewing giveaways.

Fiona's Irish Pub
5810 Kingstowne Center, Alexandria, Va.
Thursday, Dec. 17
Fiona's party will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday. They'll be collecting food and clothing for nonprofit Koinonia.

Miracle on 7th Street has Ugly Sweater happy hours on Saturdays till 8 p.m.. There are contests and those who wear an ugly sweater get discounts like 10 percent off drinks.

Next weekend (Dec. 26-27), Firefly's hosting its annual Ugly Sweater brunch. Those who dress up et a complimentary mimosa, bloody Mary or coffee with a brunch entree.

Roofers Union

Wednesday, Dec. 16
Roofers Union will have 20 different local holiday beers on hand for their party; they'll be collecting charitable donations at the event.

Republic's party kicks off at 9:30 p.m. with a contest, Christmas music, $5 pints, a photo booth, a late night happy hour, board games and more.

D.C.'s cat cafe will hold an ugly sweater party at 6:30 for $40 including kittens, macaroons, ugly sweaters, hot chocolate and more.
