Fishnet chef Ferhat Yalcin is remaking his former Fishnet space in Shaw into Drift on 7th.
Drift will open in January and aim to serve sustainable seafood at affordable places. They'll serve dishes like blue catfish (some proceeds from sales will go to The Wide Net Project), fish and chips, lobster rolls, mussels and cedar plank salmon. For the fish-averse, there will even be a burger. Fish portions will be 6-8 oz with a choice of side.
They'll round out the menu with seafood soups, hake tots, crab sliders and ceviche. All menu items will be $20 or less. The restaurant space has a new look with a central bar and rum and tiki cocktails.
Fishnet, which was also the home of Yalcin's tasting menu FishNook, closed in August, with plans to revamp the place. The original location still operates in College Park. There's even a chance the FishNook concept will return to Drift in some form, though it will be some time after opening, according to a spokeswoman.
