There's now an opening estimate for Morris, the cocktail bar from the chef Spike Mendelsohn and business partner Vinoda Basnayake. They're currently aiming for a late February or early March opening at 1020 7th St, NW in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Morris will be an expansion of their former Dupont Circle speakeasy, The Sheppard, which closed this fall. A representative for Morris says the bar will have an intimate and sophisticated vibe with vintage-inspired decor and a masculine edge.

The project was first announced last month, along with several other new attractions coming to the convention center. These include a sandwich shop by current "Top Chef" contestant Marjorie Meek-Bradley and a high-end diner.
