Sunday Brunch at Marcel's, Holiday Cocktails Class, and More

1) Sunday Brunch

What: Marcel's launches Sunday brunch this weekend. Sample menu items include smoked salmon carpaccio, poached eggs on toasted brioche, and Earl Grey creme brulée. The three-course menu is $65. Find more information here, or call (202) 296-1166 for reservations.

2) Filson's Winter Warm Up

What: David Strauss of the forthcoming Morris cocktail bar will serve George Dickel whiskey hot toddies. Shoppers can sip on them while looking for holiday gifts.

When: Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m.

3) Holiday Cocktail Class

What: The restaurant’s bartenders will show guests how to make three different drinks including an alcohol-free hot cider drink, a cranberry spiced punch, and a Manhattan. The price is $25 per person and includes recipes and a bar spoon and jigger.  Call the restaurant at (301) 652-5525 to make a reservation.

4) The White House in Gingerbread Book Signing

What: Former White House executive pastry chef Roland Mesnier and his former assistant, chef Mark Ramsdell are signing their book The White House in Gingerbread. Mesnier will discuss the White House gingerbread houses that he's built over the years, and Ramsdell will do a demonstration. Mini pastries, hot chocolate, tea, and coffee will also be served. The event (more information here) is priced at $25 for person. For $30 more, guests ill receive a copy of the book to be signed by the chefs, as well as a gingerbread house kit. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (301) 229-8180.

5) Maker's Mark Coat Drive

What: Maker’s Mark is partnering with non-profit organization One Warm Coat to collect gently used and spare coats. Their truck is traveling the country and stopping in D.C. this weekend to serve hot chocolate and Maker’s Mark-inspired gingerbread cookies. No alcohol will be served.
