One of D.C.'s star hockey players is getting a tribute beer — and it isn't Alexander Ovechkin.
Left winger Jason Chimera (currently on a four game point streak) is the inspiration for Bluejacket's The Chimmer beer (it went on tap right before the holiday). The Chimmer is an IPA with flavors of cantaloupe, berry, and pine, according to a spokesperson for the brewery. It's dry-hopped with Azacca & The Falconer's Flight hop blend.
Chimera, a beer geek himself, did a tour of the brewery with some fans while the beer was brewing and was a fan of its taste, which convinced the brewers to name the beer after him.
The beer available on draft, on cask, and in bottles. A spokeswoman for the Caps said they have no plans to promote the beer and declined to comment further.
