Mio Restaurant is closing its doors in D.C.

A worker answering the phone confirmed to Eater that the restaurant's last day will be December 31. The restaurant had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September.

But there's some good news for fans of the restaurant. Tom Sietsema Tweeted the owner plans to open Acerola, a casual Puerto Rican restaurant, in Fairfax next summer.

Mio opened near McPherson Square back in 2006, and went through several menu changes and revamps since. It seemed to find the most fans with its authentic Puerto Rican dishes.
