1) Latke Cook Off

What: To celebrate the first night of Chanukah, join Temple Sinai for a latke cooking competition. Ingredients will be provided, and non-latke food and drinks will be available also. Latkes will be judged by Jeremiah Cohen of Bullfrog Bagels and David Wiseman of DGS Delicatessen. Tickets ($20) for both competitors and spectators are available here.

When: Sunday at 7 p.m.

2) The Twelve (or More) Beers of Christmas

What: For Black Squirrel's annual Christmas event, they'll once again pass out Christmas cookies, serve several Christmas ale, and offer two special burgers. The XXXmas burger is a sausage burger topped with dressing, bacon, and cranberry aioli, and the Holy Cheesemas burger is a double decker topped with beer-cheese sauce.

3) Ugly Sweater Party

What: The Pitch will host a competition with prizes for the ugliest sweater of the night. There are happy hour specials from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and DJ sets by EZ Street 5 p.m. 9 p.m. and DJ Fyah Oats from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

When: Friday at 4 p.m.

4) Repeal Day Ball

What: This event is hosted by the DC Craft Bartender's Guild. Some of the country's best mixologists from all over the country will pour original cocktails. The dress code is black tie or creative cocktail with a nod to the 1920's. Tickets ($80) and more information are available here.

When: Friday at 8 p.m.

5) Krampusnacht

What: Mark the Alpine tradition of Krampusnacht. It will start with family-friendly reception with children activities, photos with Krampus and Santa Claus, and live performances. Then there will be an after party at Gallery O. A $10 suggested donation is requested. More information is available hereThe first part of celebration is all ages, but the after party is 21+. Costumes are encouraged.
