Bryan Voltaggio confirms Aggio, the Italian restaurant inside Range in Chevy Chase, has closed. According to the Washington Post, he wants to free the space for pop-ups or private events now that the Italian concept has a permanent home in Baltimore.
Voltaggio says he never expected it to stay inside Range permanently. Aggio opened in February 2014 before expanding to a second location in Baltimore a few months later.
There are several more changes afoot at Range. Chef de cuisine Mattie McGhee recently left the restaurant, and Jeremy Waybridge of Boss Shepherds was hired as a replacement. Range also applied for a brewery addendum to its liquor license, so the restaurant might start serving their own brewed beer by next year.
Voltaggio and his brother Michael are also currently readying to open a steakhouse inside the MGM Casino at National Harbor.
