1) Mason Dixie and One Eight Distilling's pop-up

Where: One Eight Distilling

1135 Okie St. NE

When: Saturday 1-4 p.m.

What: Tours and tastings of the new distillery, a special biscuit and gravy menu from Mason Dixie.

2) Camp DC

Where: Vendetta

1212 H St. NE

When: Friday at 9:30 p.m.

What: Camp DC takes on a ski lodge theme. There are $5 vodka and fireball specials.

3) Hill Country's Chili Cookoff

Where: Hill Country Barbecue Market

410 7th St. NW

When: Saturday 1-3 p.m.

What: A $10 ticket allows attendees to sample the amateur cooks' chili cookoff entrants. There are drink specials, too.

4) Don't Doubt the Stout

Where: The Black Squirrel

2427 18th St. NW

When: Friday at 5 p.m.

What: Black Squirrel will be pouring 13 different varieties of black stout beer.

5) New Saturday Brunch

Where: Barrel

613 Pennsylvania Ave. SE

When: Saturday 10:30-4 p.m.

What: Barrel expands its brunch offerings, which range from fried duck with eggs & grits to biscuits with burnt honey & ham, to Saturday, starting this weekend.
