Anchors are everywhere, appropriately, at the new Orange Anchor bar and restaurant in Georgetown. Opening next week, the project is the latest from Reese Gardner (Second State, Copperwood Tavern), and the name carries over into the decor.
That means anchor wallpaper, anchor etchings, even anchors decorating the centerpiece of oranges on the bar. The restaurant has an orange and navy blue color scheme with touches of wood and rope meant to evoke boats (buoys also hang from one area of the ceiling). Maggie O'Neill of Swatchroom designed the place.
Orange Anchor will feature a seafood-focused menu from chef Allen Javery; cocktails will emphasize rum. Boats on the waterfront will actually have access to Orange Anchor - they'll be able to drive up and buy sandwiches, salads, even bags of ice.
Grand opening is slated for Friday, Feb. 13 — there will be discounted food during the soft opening days on Feb 11 and 12.
