Fans of Ted's Bulletin have seen new locations open up recently in such markets as Reston and Merrifield. Now, the company that runs Ted's will focus on growing the footprint of their original restaurant, Matchbox, including three new locations planned for Northern Virginia.
First up will be a location at the One Loudoun development. It will open in the fall of 2015 with a two story patio. A Potomac Mills Matchbox is slated for later that winter, and it will feature two patios and a mezzanine level.
Later in 2016, Matchbox will build a huge, 11,000 square foot location at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. It's part of a large expansion of that mall which will also feature a Sugar Factory dessert cafe.
"It's all part of the national expansion plans," said the spokeswoman. Matchbox hired a new chief operating officer, Peter D'Amelio, a veteran of such brands as The Cheesecake Factory and Great American Restaurants, to aid in its growth.
Editor's Note: The Matchbox folks have updated their time projections since publication, and the story reflects those changes.
