It was a last-minute idea. Friday night, Quarry House put out the word that performer J.P. McDermott would be in town, and offered to be part of a benefit concert to support Quarry House, which suffered fire damage along with two other restaurants after a major blaze Thursday morning.
The event was held at 10 p.m. Saturday night at sister restaurant Jackie's, while other bands like Rock a Sonics, Super Lucky Elephant and Jeff Wells came out for the cause. According to owner Jackie Greenbaum, about 200 people came out for the event, despite it coming together last minute, and they managed to raise just under $2,500 for the restaurant's staff. "There was a huge amount of sympathy and love for Quarry House and the staff," she said.
There's now an IndieGoGo page dedicated to the cause. Looks like they're up to more than $5,000 in donations and counting. The restaurant, which is waiting on inspections, still does not have a firm idea of when they might be able to reopen.
