1) LOGAN CIRCLE: Sotto, the newest bar from Mindful Restaurants (Ghibellina, Denson Liquor Bar) will open tonight. The basement-level bar shares a kitchen with sister restaurant Ghibelllina. Sotto has an American menu from chef Keith Cabot featuring dishes like barbecue and homemade sausages. There are also some childhood and state fair food touches, like pretzel monkey bread, potato nachos and a riff on Cracker Jacks.
Sotto was designed so that despite the basement location, it "wouldn't feel like a cave," spokeswoman Liliana Koebke said. That means lighter woods and leathers. 2) METRO CENTER: Black Iron Pizza has opened its doors downtown. UrbanDaddy reports the restaurant is quick service, with pizza toppings like truffle oil and vodka sauce. They also have beer and calzones. Chef Eric McCoy is a Citronelle veteran. Status: Certified open. 1299 Pennsylvania Ave. NW; website.
