Modern Times Coffeehouse has closed its doors at Politics & Prose, though the bookstore will still have a coffee shop under new ownership.

The bookstore's owners bought the shop and management rights from former owner Javier Rivas, according to a press release. The staff and menu will remain the same for now.

The coffee shop opened in 2006 at the bookstore under the direction of Rivas, Adam Hasler and Ryan Wisnor. Rivas will remain on for awhile as a consultant, and in the meantime focus on his other business, La Mano Coffee Bar in Takoma.
