Veloce, the new fast-casual pizza restaurant from Pizzeria Paradiso's Ruth Gresser, is on track for a late spring opening.
The restaurant, which is opening at 1828 L St. NW, will offer both breakfast and lunch. Eric Gronning of Gronning Architects will design the space. Veloce will serve both veggie and meat pizzas, plus calzones, sandwiches and salads. There will be pre-set combinations, plus create-your-own-options with four different crust choices (including gluten-free).
The restaurant is using a custom-made oven from Beltsville-based Marra Forni, which weighs more than 6,000 pounds and can fire up to 25 pizzas at once.
