1) New Belgium's Slow Food Event

Where: Mess Hall D.C.

When: Sunday 1-4:30 p.m.

What: This event pairs beer with information on how to pickle, braise meats and more. More information here.

2) Brewers' Ball

Where: National Building Museum

When: Saturday at 7 p.m.

What: More than 30 craft breweries and 20 local restaurants are participating in this annual bash. More info here. UPDATE: Looks like they're sold out, though.

3) Whisky Live

Where: Grand Hyatt

When: Saturday, 6-10 p.m.

What: This annual whisky event combines Scotch tastings with food, entertainment and more. More info here.

4) Culinary Historians of Washington

Where: Bethesda/Chevy Chase Regional Services Center, Meeting Room A

4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda, MD

When: Sunday 2:30-4:30

What: Nancy J. Siegel will give a lecture, "From Liberty Tea to Freedom Fries: America's Political Appetite." The event looks at metaphors linking food and politics throughout American history.

5) Distillery Tasting

Where: Cordial Wines (at Union Market)

When: Friday 5-7 p.m.

What: Local distillery One Eight will host a free tasting of their new products. Assistant distiller Max Hames will be on hand to talk about their operations.

ALSO THIS WEEKEND: It's opening weekend for AMP, the new entertainment venue...it's the last night for Anju tonight...there's a vintage motorcycle meet-up at Bardo.
