1) Veloce Pop-Up

Where: Pizzeria Paradiso

2003 P St. NW

When: Saturday at 9 a.m.

What: Get an early taste of chef Ruth Gresser's breakfast pizzas at her sister restaurant Saturday morning. There will be coffee as well.

2)  Sakura Matsuri Street Festival

Where: 12th and Pennsylvania Ave. NW and surrounding blocks

When: Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

What: The main Japanese cultural event of the Cherry Blossom Festival kicks off this weekend. There are street performers and shopping, but also plenty of food (Japanese and otherwise), plus a beer garden. More here.

3) Doi Moi's New Brunch

Where: Doi Moi

1800 14th St. NW

When: Kicking off Saturday

What: Doi Moi launches weekend brunch service, starting Saturday. They'll serve dishes like Vietnamese crepes, Thai omelets, Lao rice porridge, a banh mi and more.

4) Alba Osteria's Lamb Roast

Where: Alba Osteria

425 I St. NW

When: Friday at 7 p.m.

What: Sample spit-roast lamb with a variety of sauces, and accompaniments like eggplant parmesan and roasted potatoes.

5) Society Fair's Crawfish Boil

Where: Society Fair

277 S. Washington Street

When: Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

What: $28 buys attendees to the event crawfish and sides. It's happening in the bistro and is one of many crawfish fests throughout the city this year.
