Though Michael Schlow's D.C. restaurant, Tico, is more known for dishes like tacos and cabbage salad, the chef knows how to make a burger. His Schlow Burger, in fact, won a prize at the South Beach Food & Wine competition a few years ago.
Schlow is bringing back the burger at Tico just for burger week. It takes a half pound of ground chuck and tops it with melted cheddar, horseradish sauce and crispy fried onions, all served on a brioche bun.
The burger was the chef's go-to burger recipe at family barbecues over the years. It also was featured at his Boston restaurant Radius as a lunch special in the past, before eventually making its way to the dining room. Try it for $17; it's a Burger Week special in Boston as well.
