Brunch doesn't always have to be French toast, pancakes and eggs. Here are six local restaurants that have the good sense to add a burger to their mid-day weekend menus. The burgers are often topped with a fried egg, since hey, this is breakfast after all.

The Burger: The Davey at DBGB Kitchen and Bar, 931 H St NW

What's In It: A toasted sesame bagel bun is the base for this very brunch-y burger, named after DBGB's chef Ed Scarpone's father. Scarpone and his dad used to cook these burgers together. The Davey includes a beef patty topped with a fried egg, a thick slice of cream cheese, bacon, raw red onion and Sriracha. It is served with a huge hash brown, as pictured. The burger goes on the menu this weekend.

The Burger: Brunch Burger at BRABO, 1600 King St, Alexandria

What's In It: The Brunch Burger at BRABO starts with a brioche bun, then adds a sage sausage patty, an over easy egg, bacon and caramelized onion.

The Burger: Lamb Burger at Poste, 555 8th St, NW

What's In It: The lamb burger is served on pita bread with roasted tomatoes, frisée, falafel and pickled red onion.

The Burger: The Turkey (Yengen) Burger at Compass Rose, 1346 T St NW

What's In It: This adventurous turkey burger on Compass Rose's new brunch menus is piled high with fried salami, pepperoni, Drunken Goat cheese, Gordy’s pickles and tomato.

The Burger: Triple Stack Burger at The Partisan, 709 D St NW

What's In It: The Partisan's new brunch menu includes a burger with two beef patties and then an array of breakfast favorites as toppings: a breakfast sausage patty, American cheese, bacon, fried egg, and maple butter.

The Burger: The Brunch Burger at Bobby's Burger Palace, 2121 K St, NW; 2712 Potomac Mills Circle, Woodbridge; 7101 Democracy Blvd, Bethesda; 8150 Baltimore Avenue College Park; 7002 Arundel Mills Circle, Hanover

What's In It: Order the Brunch Burger anytime at Bobby's Burger Palace. It's topped with a fried egg, smoked bacon and American cheese.

And for little brunchgoers, the kid's brunch menu at Gypsy Soul offers a Gypsy Soul burger.
