Ankara will open in Dupont Circle this May, overseen by a chef who used to work for José Andrés.
Jorge Chicas will oversee the kitchen at the new restaurant, opening at 1320 19th St. NW. There will be seating for 120 people inside and 115 outside on a large patio. It's where Levante's used to be.
Menu items will lean contemporary, such as a roasted eggplant dish with garlic yogurt sauce, fried mussels in a walnut sauce, kebabs, grilled branzino and more. There will be a wood-fired oven the cooks will use to make fresh breads and pide (Turkish pizza).
