Opening Alert: More Filipino Food for D.C. from Asian-Influenced Urban Heights

Robert Wiedmaier opens another Maryland restaurant.

Urban Heights opens for lunch today, featuring the cuisine of chef Cliff Wharton. The former TenPenh chef returns to his Asian roots for this restaurant, which will marry Filipino dishes with influences from other Asian cultures.

On the menu: chicken adobo sliders, XO honey shrimp, lumpia, a Bulgogi-style steak salad, and pork belly bites. There will be a tuna bar and pig roasts, as well as Asian beers on tap and Island-themed cocktails from bartender Jamie Imhof (who has her own line of homemade tonics). UPDATE: Imhof is now staying at Wildwood Kitchen, according to a spokeswoman. Meanwhile, general manager Garth Hamilton has revamped the cocktail menu.

Located in the former Roof space, Urban Heights naturally has its own spacious roof deck, with a bar, and both lounge and table seating. The second floor dining room has a view as well.

Urban Heights, 7940 Norfolk Avenue, Bethesda; website.
