Neighborhood favorite Pound the Hill is closing after four years of operation. The coffee shop's owners made the announcement yesterday on Facebook and through an e-mail message.
A Bourbon Coffee location will open there on Monday. It will be their second shop in D.C. after opening in Foggy Bottom six years ago. They also have a shop in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The "crop to cup" coffee shop specializes in direct trade Rwandan coffee.
The new owners will eventually change the space and menu to reflect the Bourbon Coffee brand. They plan to keep Pound's staff. UPDATE: Some good news; they're also keeping Pound's beloved Nutella lattes.
