D.C. and its surrounding neighborhoods have about 80 new restaurants, courtesy of a ton of spring openings.
Spring is always a busy season for Washington, and this year was no exception. Some high-profile additions included cat cafe Crumbs & Whiskers, the long-awaited Maketto, José Andrés' vegetable-centric Beefsteak, Amy Brandwein's Centrolina at CityCenterDC and more. There are several new neighborhood additions, from Mosaic District's Brine to Vienna's ambitious Clarity to chill drinking establishment The Pub & the People. Several brands expanded as well, like DGS Delicatessen, Bayou Bakery and Peter Chang.
The season wasn't without its losses, either, with restaurants including Pound the Hill, Jay's Saloon, Meskerem, Piratz Tavern, Chief Ike's Mambo Room and many others shutting doors this season.
