It's been a long time coming for the Michael White pizza stand.

It's been more than two years since the Altamarea Group revealed plans to bring pizzeria Nicoletta to the Yards. Meanwhile, the restaurant group's first restaurant in D.C., Osteria Morini, has been thriving in the same neighborhood.

Fans spotted one sign of life last week: a building permit application for Nicoletta. Rest assured: the group still is planning to open a second project there. A spokeswoman tells Eater the restaurant could open by fall, though there's no firm opening date yet.

Plans are for Nicoletta to be more of a kiosk than a restaurant at The Yards. The permit is for 18 seats. There are already locations of the restaurant in New York and New Jersey.
