1) Crab Cake Competition

Where: The Source

When: Sunday at noon

What: Chefs like Danny Lee, Spike Mendelsohn and Joe Palma will face off for crabcake supremacy in this annual fundraiser. Tickets are $85.

2) Alexandria Food & Wine Festival

Where: Oronoco Bay Park

When: Saturday at noon

What: Many of the city's restaurants and wineries will come together for this annual festival, with games and live music, too. More here.

3) Beast of the Month

Where: B-Side

When: Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

What: This multi-course dinner celebrates the Russaback Wild Boar, which Red Apron has been highlighting in its meat case this month. Tickets are $96; reservations are required.

4) Folklife Festival

Where: The National Mall

When: All weekend long

What: Peru is the focus of the Smithsonian's annual event this year. Details here.

5) Derecho Common Release Party

Where: Port City Brewing Company

When: Friday starting at 3

What: The brewery will celebrate its annual release of this beer (first inspired by a major storm years ago) all evening long. More here.
