It took one simple idea for the menu for Mosaic District's new Mom and Pop's to come together, according to co-owner Robb Duncan: boards.

The expanded restaurant from the Dolcezza team is building its food offerings around the idea of snacks on wooden boards, Duncan elaborated. That means meat boards, cheese boards, meat and cheese boards, fish boards, breakfast boards, vegetable boards and sandwich boards. Even the boards themselves are from local wood artisans Foxwood Co. Rounding out the menu will be coffees, seasonal fruits and pastries, as well as beer and wine.

Mom and Pop's is an exercise in collaboration, with many local partners coming together. Red Apron's Nate Anda is handling the snacks and charcuterie; the cheese is from Righteous Cheese, pastries are from Tom Wellings' BlueBird Bakery; pickles are from Gordy's, coffee is from Stumptown and quiches are from Whisked!. Local beers will be offered, too. Though opening day is Friday, they'll gradually roll out the menu as they go.

Mom and Pop's is located in the glass-enclosed space at Mosaic District just outside the Angelika movie theater. Dolcezza previously operated in the same space for several months as a pop-up. Photos of the space, still wrapping up finishing touches before opening, are below.
