A hot Friday night in Ashburn: get buzzed at Whole Foods?
The grocery store is debuting a new Brewhouse pub at its Ashburn location later this month. On the menu: 18 beers on tap, cocktails made with local spirits and mixers (including the new absinthe from Mt. Defiance), barrel-aged cocktails, loaded totchos, pizza, sandwiches and other snacks. They'll also have a weekday happy hour. The pub (and the store) open July 29.
It's the first Whole Foods location in the area to serve spirits, according to a spokeswoman.
Grocery stores have been getting into the bar business in the D.C. area more frequently lately. Wegmans just opened a new pub in Alexandria that's even on OpenTable.
