What was previously known about The Shaw Bijou: it was opening at 1544 9th St. NW from chef Kwame Onwuachi and other Eleven Madison Park veteran and it would be a tasting menu. What was unknown: pretty much everything else. Until now. Here are some important reveals from a press release about the upcoming restaurant:
*Salon owner Kelly Gorsuch is one of the owners (and used to live in the building housing the restaurant), along with Onwuachi, consultant Glenn Paik and manager Greg Vakiner.
*There will be only 32 seats for the global tasting menu restaurant, open Tuesday-Saturday.
*They'll serve Wagyu beef, along with food inspired by the chef's Nigerian childhood, travels and time spent in the Bronx.
*They'll give tours of the kitchen and there will be "interactive" tableside preparations.
*The look: exposed brick, woodworking from Caleb Woodard and an upstairs lounge.
*That lounge will be members-only with 50 seats, serving rare liquors.
*A late 2015 opening is planned.
