Inside Pepita, Mike Isabella's Coastal Mexican Cantina in Ballston

The chef is adding another restaurant to his empire.

Pepita is getting ready to open on July 30.

The restaurant will serve dishes like ceviche, salads, tacos and enchiladas, and it has the decor to match. Inspired by coastal Mexican cantinas, the dining room is full of natural light. One wall has a large yellow and light green marigold motif. It seats 32 diners at light wood tables with green banquettes and yellow chairs, but the partially-covered patio will provide additional seating for 44.

The concrete bar adorned in patterned tiles will also play a central role in the restaurant. There will be an emphasis on tequila and mezcal. It will carry an extensive list of fresh squeezed juices, at least four margaritas and a few frozen drinks.
