Longtime U Street Restaurant The Islander Will Close

It could end up relocating, though.

The Islander was serving up Caribbean food long before restaurants began flocking to U Street. Now, The Washington Post reports that restaurant is closing.

It first opened in the late 1960s, though has changed locations since.

The manager says, though, that they may relocate the place to somewhere with more affordable rents in D.C.
