Activists are planning to gather near the site of the future Trump Hotel today to protest inflammatory remarks made by the mogul and political candidate about Mexican immigrants.
The protest is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at 12th and Pennsylvania Ave. NW. The Facebook page for the event reads:
It is time to take ACTION against Donald Trump! The Latino community and others are outraged by Donald Trump's recent comments on Mexican and latino immigrants.
According to the page, attendees will include D.C. shadow representatives such as Franklin Garcia, Paul Strauss and Michael Brown, as well as Maryland delegates and members of the Latino caucus, among others.
Chef José Andrés announced yesterday he will pull out of his planned restaurant for the upcoming hotel.
Trump's comments called immigrants "rapists" and said they bring in drugs and crime to the country. Eater has reached out to The Trump Hotel team for any statement on the protest.
