Noe Landini, owner of Old Town Alexandria spots like Landini Brothers and Fish Market, is now expanding into D.C. with Bar Deco.
Construction on the bar and restaurant inside the Bulletin Building at 717 6th St., NW is already underway. A representative told Eater they're aiming for a mid-September opening.
The 8,000 square foot space sounds ambitious. It will include three floors (with a bar and dining room) and a rooftop bar and patio area. They're also applying a mural to the exterior of the building this week. CORE architecture firm, who has worked on Centrolina, Del Campo and many other local restaurants, is responsible for the Art Deco-inspired design.
Bar Deco will have a smoker on the first floor to cook chicken, pork ribs and other meats from local purveyors. Corned beef hash, chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits will be available for brunch. So far, the cocktail menu includes whiskey sours and an original gin pickleback created by head bartender Jesse Maas.
