Scarlet Oak in Navy Yard officially opened on Saturday night following a soft-opening earlier in the week.
The kitchen is led by chef Leo Garcia who has worked at Proof and Red Hen. According to Hill Now, it's owned by brothers Anthony and Peter Lupo who also own Southern Hospitality in Adams Morgan.
The eclectic menu is separated into small plates, nibbles, salads, pizzas and entrees. Dishes range from squid ink tagliatelle, to pizza and seafood dishes. They're also serving cocktails, beer, and wine.
Construction on the 3,400 square foot restaurant started in the spring. A representative for the Navy Yard restaurant tells Eater they're only doing dinner service for about a week. Next they plan to open for lunch, and brunch service will follow by early September.
