Alex McCoy will open a Southeast Asian bar in Petworth reports Washington City Paper. Although he was just cut from Food Network Star on last Sunday's episode, he's already planning to open at 845 Upshur Street NW in October.
The unnamed project will be inspired by expat bars that McCoy discovered while visiting Southeast Asia. Earlier this year, the Duke's Grocery vet had revealed he was traveling around the region to research dishes for a new restaurant.
The menu will apparently include authentic Southeast Asian dishes, as well as some items with an Australian twist to reflect the expat influence. The noodles, bread and sauces will all be made in house. He also plans to work with local farms to procure items like kaffir lime, turmeric and other produce.
