Neighborhood Restaurant Group has a new pastry chef in Naomi Gallego.
Gallego most recently worked at Blue Duck Tavern, where she combined comfort food classics with traditional techniques. Washington Post reports she will oversee the pastry programs for the company's restaurants (which include Birch & Barley, Columbia Firehouse and several others) but not its bakeries. She'll take over in the fall.
NRG hasn't had a corporate pastry chef since Tiffany MacIsaac left more than a year ago. She's now opening her own place, Buttercream Bakeshop, in Shaw.
