Raise a glass to the pope

Now we're up to two restaurants capitalizing on the pope's upcoming visit to D.C. Brookland Pint, which is a block from where the pope will conduct mass, is offering a whole bunch of religious-themed beers, from Evil Twin Brewery's Double Barrel Jesus to a special "No Pope, 'til Brookland" brew from Franklin's. That's on top of the fact that Ella's Pizza has a pope-themed pie in the works.

Salmonella scare continues

CityCenterDC hot spot Fig & Olive is now closed as officials investigate the possibility of a salmonella outbreak there. Several visitors had reported salmonella-like symptoms and now at least two cases have been confirmed. [WaPo]

Bacon porn

And for today's "this just looks good" Facebook post, check out Sally's Middle Name's braised bacon (which is first smoked by DCitySmokehouse).

Do yourself a favor and get in on some of this braised bacon. Smoked at DCity Smokehouse and served with apple butter and fermented jalapeños.
