Japanese restaurant Matuba will convert into a Japanese deli, reports Bethesda Magazine.
The restaurant, located in Bethesda's Woodmont Triangle, will still offer sushi but also offer new sides and entrees. Owner Kunio Yasutake provided the magazine with a partial menu of the new offerings like gyoza, tempura and entrees like tonkatsu and salmon teriyaki.
Matuba will close to retool and then reopen next week with counter service and entrees at lower prices. Yasutake had recently sold the 35-year-old restaurant, but resumed ownership again this month when the new owners weren't able to make a profit.
