Brent Kroll's Wine Man-Cave, A Mini-Omakase and More Intel

Mini-news bites for the morning.

Omakase for less

Overwhelmed by the price — or the amount of food involved — during a Japanese omakase experience? Try Sushiko's new mini-omakase, which is $50 for five courses. There's sushi, sashimi, two non-sushi dishes and a dessert. Items will change weekly, and a reservation isn't needed (the restaurant already has a $90 nine-course omakase and a $60 sushi-only option).

A different kind of man cave

Who would turn his coat closet into a wine cabinet? Neighborhood Restaurant Group wine director Bent Kroll, natch. He pulled it off for just under $2K. [WCP]

The corn dogs are coming

It's a tradition. Shake Shack's corn dogs are back in time for Labor Day. They're also doing peach concretes from Friday-Monday.

Keep an eye out for the bread truck

California's La Brea bakery is in town with a food truck roaming the D.C. streets today through Sunday. Check out their stops online.

Because just a pop tart won't cut it

And for today's Facebook post of the morning, here's some food porn from Ted's Bulletin of a pop-tart ice cream sandwich, an off-menu item.
