Ashok Bajaj's 701 reopens today after closing on August 30 for major renovations. James Beard award-nominated restaurant designer Martin Vahtra of Projects Design Associates of New York was recruited for the revamp.
The updated interior is more inviting and a little less formal. It includes a warmer color scheme, carpeting with a playful bubble pattern and dramatic wall coverings and glass light fixtures. The new, Italian furniture includes banquettes covered in colorful Maharam fabrics and armchairs recovered in a burgundy and teal striped fabric. The wood tables are paired with chairs in varying styles.
The renovation also includes a new private dining room that can accommodate up to 30 guests. It complements the two existing private rooms that seat 12 and 20 people for dinner.
